AI Reply · The Closer

It doesn't chat.
It closes.

Trained on your playbook, it carries every conversation to the appointment. When a human is needed, they slide into the thread — no handoff, no restart.

AI Engage got the first response; AI Reply owns the thread from here, with the full history and the customer's memory already loaded.

Not a search: a living model of every unit, trim, color, and days-in-stock, refreshed continuously. It never sells a car you delivered yesterday.

Every thread is driven to a time on your calendar: proposed, confirmed, reminded, and written back to your CRM with notes.

The Tech Underneath

Not a Chatbot.
An Agent That Closes.

Powered by the Matador AI Engine™, trained on nearly 1.2 billion real dealership messages, AI Reply doesn't match keywords to scripts. It reasons: reads the thread, checks your data, picks the play, and verifies before anything reaches a customer.

A living model of your lot

Every unit, trim, color, option package, days-in-stock, and incoming allocation, modeled continuously, not searched on demand. It doesn't look your inventory up. It knows it.

Memory that carries the relationship

The test drive last month, the trade they mentioned in March, tonight's budget comment: one memory across channels, weeks, and agents. Customers never repeat themselves.

Recommends the right car, not just an answer

It weighs budget, payment target, family size, color preference, and what's actually on your lot, then proposes the unit most likely to close. Color gone? It offers the next-best match instead of a dead end.

Verified before it sends

Every message passes accuracy, relevance, compliance, and tone checks before your customer sees it.

Watch it think: "Do you have it in black?"

Trained on Your Store

Your Inventory. Your Pricing Rules.
Your Playbook.

AI Reply isn't a generic model with a car vocabulary. During onboarding it's configured on your store's own data, and it keeps learning what works on your floor.

  • Your inventory feed: live units, pricing, options, in-transit allocations.
  • Your CRM history: it knows the customer's past visits, vehicles, and threads.
  • Your tone and process: loaded from your content library and your top performers' conversations.
  • AI Decisioning: matches every message to each customer based on their probability of taking action.
  • Your guardrails: pricing display rules, escalation triggers, quiet hours. You set them; it never freelances.

on the Team

Answering questions is table stakes. AI Reply's job is the appointment: it asks for the visit in every conversation, at the right moment, then confirms and reminds so the customer actually shows.

Booked isn't the finish line. Shown is. AI Reply confirms every appointment, sends reminders, and reschedules the ones that slip, which is why Matador-set appointments show at 86.4%. Your desk sees a fuller board, not a fuller no-show list.

The Questions Dealers Ask

Straight Answers

What exactly is AI Reply?
Matador’s core agent. The moment a customer responds, it runs the conversation: answers questions, checks live inventory, shares links and store hours, and books appointments directly into your CRM.
How does it decide what to say?
It reads intent first (price inquiry, negotiation, trade-in), then combines your base prompt with that intent’s instructions before writing a word. If the intent has an action attached, like tagging your manager, that fires too.
Will it answer pricing or negotiation questions?
By design, no. Those intents trigger a handoff: the AI keeps the deal alive without committing (“what would it take?”) and tags the person you designated. Guardrails prevent unauthorized discounts and approval promises.
When does it reply versus my salespeople?
Your reps always get first shot: the delay is configurable. We recommend about 15 minutes during business hours (1–5 minutes just frustrates your team) and about 1 minute after hours. A rep replying within the window keeps the AI out entirely.
How do I customize its behavior?
Give it a persona (name and role, like “Emma, Business Development Representative”), add plain-language instructions (“we don’t offer shipping,” “only tag Gary for trade appraisals”), and set per-intent rules in the Intent Lab.
What makes an AI give inconsistent responses?
Contradictory instructions, almost every time. Ten pages of conflicting rules measurably degrade output. The AI Reply base prompt is the single source of truth, and simpler prompts are faster and more predictable.
How does Matador prevent hallucinations?
A dedicated AI layer checks every message before it’s sent for hallucinated or bad responses. The base prompt and that verification layer are versioned and KPI-tracked with every deployment: accuracy is measured, not assumed.
Can it book appointments?
Yes: directly into the CRM, checking real availability and store hours first. AI-booked appointments show up in your reporting as AI-influenced.
How do I stop it for a specific customer?
Any manual rep message pauses it. Reps can snooze it, managers can disable it, and it stops automatically when the lead is marked Sold or Inactive. Best practice: snooze, don’t disable. A disabled lead who texts back three months later goes unanswered.
Will it double-text a customer who goes quiet?
No. AI Reply only responds to inbound messages. Re-engaging silence is exclusively AI Follow-Up’s job, by design, so the two never collide.
